Brief Profile of CIAMC Consulting Ltd. (CCL)

The CIAMC Consulting Ltd. (CCL), is the consultancy practice unit of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants-Ghana, (CIAMC-G). The CIAMC-G is a private company limited by guarantee licensed in Ghana, in accordance with the provisions of the Professional Bodies Registration Decree 1973 (NRCD 143), as an international consultancy training, examining, licensing and regulatory Professional Body. CIAMC is directed towards significantly enhancing the capacity of both the public and private sectors in the economic development of Ghana and the West African sub-region. It also facilitates the strengthening of business institutions in the sub-region.

CIAMC aims at promoting and furthering the cause of high professional standards and efficiency in the practice of Administration and Management Consultancy through life - long learning programmes designed to:

  • Raise standards of professional practice in support of better business performance, and
  • Provide a broad knowledge base in management and leadership, and practical problem-solving skills to address the complex problems and challenges of governance and business as a whole.   

CIAMC Consulting Ltd has excellent reputation for training and capacity building. We have an interdisciplinary team with diverse academic background. Our consultants acting individually or collectively have undertaken assignments for many organizations including: Ghana Civil/Public Service School at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, The Ethiopian Civil Service University, Liberian institute of Public Administration, Malawi Institute of Public Administration, Public Administration Institutes in East Africa, National Accreditation Board of Ghana, and the National Vocational Training Institute of Ghana. Others include, USAID, ILO, Newmont Gold mining, Perseus Mining Ghana and UNDP. The staff members are experts in their fields and work together to solve complex development problems. 

CCL has a well-defined governance structure, with oversight role played by the CIAMC-G Board of Trustees. The CIAMC-G Board is an eleven-member board of which the Chief Executive Officer is a member and oversees the activities of the institution. The CEO and the Management team comprises a core staff of seasoned consultants and experienced administrators together with a number of associates who are brought on board when the need arises.

CCL operates under the supervision of the Management and Board of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants-Ghana. The Board of CIAMC-G is supported by five permanent standing Committees that work hand in hand with four directorates namely: 

  1. Corporate Services
  2. Education, Examinations and Professional Development
  3. Membership Services, and
  4. Research, Consultancy, and Continuing Professional Development that sees to the day to day running of the institution. 
  • CIAMC seeks to provide a platform by training and developing consultants with a comprehensive knowledge in the theories, models and approaches of consultancy, specialized individual skills in management consulting, strategic auditing, company growth and turnaround strategies, and ethical discipline to meet the complex needs of society. At CIAMC, analytic and solution strategists are developed.

Our consultants have undertaken several assignments related to the current request for proposal. From October 2002 to date CIAMC has trained over Three Thousand and Seventy-Eight professionals in consultancy skills, both as independent consultants and as internal consultants. The number cuts across the academia, the health sector, the accountancy profession, local government and private corporate institutions.  

The core consultants of CCL have been engaged individually and jointly in several donor funded research, consultancies and development projects. The quality of the services delivered by the consultants has created a niche of clientele within the bilateral and multilateral agencies for the consultants in Ghana. Our clientele also includes local and international institutions as shown below: 

  • Local Institutions include Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and private corporate bodies
  • International institutions include include DANIDA, FAO, World Bank, Ethiopian Government, Liberian Government, and Zambia. Others are Care International, World Vision International, and International Academic Institutions such as Bradford University, University of Amsterdam, Tropenbos International, ICRA, and Wageningen International in The Netherlands.

CCL’s main fields of operations are in research, general and customized training, certifying professional Administrators and Management Consultants, and provision of Management Consultancy services to public sector institutions, private corporate institutions and not-for-profit organizations. 

Our consulting skills training methodology is anchored by the following concepts:

  • Stage 1: Assess
Consultation: link to strategy
This stage focuses on ensuring strategic fit of our solutions. We also seek to identify the training needs: what COMPETENCIES i.e. knowledge, skills are required against what presently exist, the TALENT ENGAGEMENT structures and systems to develop the competences and the CULTURAL environment to enable skills deployment. 
  • Stage 2: Design
Training Design
We use our understanding from the needs assessment and experience in content sampling and curriculum development to design course contents, class size, profile trainees and determine class composition, select delivery methods, identify facilitators, design monitoring & evaluation tools etc for effective learning and knowledge exchange. 
  • Stage 3: 
Training Delivery
Adults learn best by doing: we therefore make our training as participative as possible so that that best results can be achieved. We use a combination of PowerPoint presentations, group exercises, role plays, experience sharing, case studies, job aids etc to deliver our training programmes.
  • Stage 4: Operate and review
Monitor Effectiveness
Training is an investment so we measure its returns. We monitor progress toward desired competencies. We do immediate/ proximal evaluation: assess knowledge acquisition at the point of delivery and effectiveness of our delivery methods. We also do distal evaluation: assess transfer of learning unto the job.

The purpose of the Institute is to promote excellence in the practice of professional administration and management consultancy by examining, chartering, and regulating its members. The Institute is a body corporate with perpetual succession capable of suing and being sued in its own name and of performing such acts as are necessary for and incidental to the achievement of its objects, the exercise of its powers and the performance of its functions and duties under this Constitution or under any statute of the Republic of Ghana.
